When I least expected it, the sudden deployment of the parachute brought intense relief and immense silence. There, suspended thousands of feet in the air, life stopped and peace entered my soul. Today, we talk about the deployment of the parachute of prayer. Para meaning, "to protect or shield," and chute meaning, "to fall." Prayer shields and protects us from the freefall of disorienting circumstances.

Over the summer weeks, let's talk about freedom in Christ. Summer is the perfect season to not only talk about freedom but experience freedom. On June 19, my husband, Rob, and I took a GIANT LEAP from 13,000 feet, to experience the terrifying, exhilarating, and INTENSE feeling of freefall. SInce 2004, I have been knee-deep in a study on trusting in God. So when the opportunity to actually skydive came to me, I jumped at the chance. Little did I know how absolutely FRIGHTENING it would be. Oh my! The coolest part of this entire adventure was seeing words written in faith actually come true. The Spirit of God revealed a powerful teaching on TRUSTING IN GOD and I just can't wait to share it. May I be bold enough to ask the Lord to let me speak this message to thousands. Why? Because it is absolutely liberating. But, as for right now, let's see what God has in store for us this summer!

While vacationing in St. Andrews, Scotland (2005), the evening news left quite an impression on my husband and I. Night after night, the weather man proclaimed in his thick Scottish accent, "Today is fresh, tomorrow will be fresher!" Somehow, I found tremendous power in his words. My husband and I still look at each other and repeat those simple words! So, the Scottish weatherman's words came home with me and inspired this weekly herald! Lord knows, we all need fresh starts. It's a rare day when everything goes perfectly! So, here's to fresh starts! May tomorrow always be fresher!
