The Waggle Dance, Really?
One of the most fascinating discoveries of 2010 occurred during late night research for a women’s conference in South Carolina. It is amazing when God intervenes in the normal, ordinary events of our lives in order to speak into our hearts. Little did I know at the time how a little scout bee’s waggle would effect me.
I can’t really express what happened, but I knew that I had to look closer at the spiritual truths wrapped up in this little waggle. That was May 2010.
Flash forward to January 2011. After months of sitting in front of my computer, filling blank pages with heartfelt thoughts and significant research, a book proposal was composed and a new conference initiative launched. A healing dialogue was birthed concerning the indomitable spirit of unity that is very much on the heart of God, as expressed by his son, Jesus, right before his time on earth was finished (John 17). Inflamed with a burning passion to get women talking about barriers to this unity, this project is near and dear to my heart. Can you tell (smile)?
Finally, after months of working it all out on paper, an opportunity to begin the dialogue came! This past weekend, at Point Harbor Community Church’s Shapin’ Up Regional Women’s Conference, women got their waggle on! “Waggle” symbolizing a commitment to pursue unity, via emotional strength, healthy communication patterns, and spiritual maturity, in all spheres of our lives. Boy, did we rock the house! Not only did we have a great deal of fun, we managed to get some “heart work” done. Here’s a little sampling of our time together.
