“The Master, God, has given me
a well-taught tongue,
So I know how to encourage tired people.
He wakes me up in the morning,
Wakes me up, opens my ears
to listen as one ready to take orders.
The Master, God, opened my ears,
and I didn’t go back to sleep,
didn’t pull the covers back over my head.”
-Isaiah 50:3-5, Message Bible
Oh, I’ve always loved this scripture. Hard to read, yes, but the promise tucked inside is remarkable:
- The KJV says it this way, “The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned.” Learned in Hebrew, limmuwd, meaning, “rather skilled to answer right.” Boy, oh, boy, do I want to speak and help others and to have the “right answers” for them. In order to do this, I have to:
- Wake up in the morning. Yes, it is the first step. Wake up and more importantly, my ears need to wake up and be ready to LISTEN.
- When I do listen, as one ready to take orders, I will hear.
Take a few minutes and share your thoughts on this scripture! I can’t wait to hear from you.

We always find our way to the truth we need, Thanks so much for your words.I was meant to realize that I have been over focused on Praising and Thanking thoughts (because I am grateful and truly blessed) and that I need to be still. Thanks again for the nudge twoards balance. namaste~anne elizabeth
Anne, you are so welcome. What a great thought, “We always find our way to the truth we need.”
Isn’t that so right? Balance is the key. I pray you have a great day learning to “be still and know
that HE is God” (Psalm 46:10). Hugs!
