“Today you are You, that is truer than true.
There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
-Dr. Seuss

I’m working hard on finishing my “52 Changes in 52 Weeks,” because October 11 (when I turn 53) is quickly approaching. I’ve got to make up for some lost time, so here’s another one. By the way, how are your little changes coming along? It becomes a game, at times. The last few have been a little serious, but not today’s (well, kinda). I’ve been pretty crazy (in loving terms, right?) for quite awhile. Some might even refer to me as “the life of the party.” It’s an interesting comment, because I really do suffer with bouts of depression and melancholy, but I’ve been told that isn’t as unusual as you might think. I’m a conundrum of sorts. I’ve lived a great deal of my life “on stage” and teaching/leading others how to do so and then there is the “off stage” me: quiet, introspective, and as I said, often melancholy. Somehow, I trust Jesus to use both sides of the personality HE gave me (smile).

(A little blurry reminder of the joy of being alive. This dance was a tribute
to the great Mahalia Jackson’s, “I Found the Answer!”
Yes, I even had my hair braided in her honor! Too fun.)

Today, I celebrate the “on stage” me. My personal trainer extraordinaire, Lynn, introduced me to the weighted hula hoop. Yep, 2 lbs. of circular joy. I haven’t had that much fun working out since I taught preschool all those years ago.

So, instead of beating myself up for acting so crazy at times (and boy, am I good at beating myself up), I am going to accept WHOSE I am and celebrate WHO I am today. When God breathed life into my being (Genesis 2:7), he breathed a little craziness. WOO HOO! Will you join me? Go ahead, download Mandisa and tobyMac’s newest hit, “Good Morning,” and do a little dancing, right there in your living room! Remember the words of dear Dr. Seuss, “There is no one alive who is YOUER than YOU!”
