Today we read a letter written by Amy’s mother,
and hear her tender teaching, prayers, and exhortations
to Amy in response to following God’s call on her life.
One line speaks louder than the others:
One step is all that I am equal to—all else will clear.
What profound wisdom. Beatrice could have been overwhelmed by
the prospect of her beloved daughter leaving Ireland to follow God’s
call to India. Talk about letting go. No internet. No Skype. No airplanes.
No, she was really letting go.
She invites us all, today, to remember that sometimes
all we can do is take one step of obedience.
All else will clear in due time.
